The highly anticipated Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 are here, and the battle for electoral dominance is on! In the constituencies of Alinagar, Lakhisarai, and Arrah, the race is intense, with some intriguing candidates and a history of political shifts.
The Rise of Maithili Thakur: A Folk Singer's Political Journey
In Alinagar, a stronghold of the RJD, we witness a unique contest. Maithili Thakur, a folk singer and the BJP's chosen candidate, takes on Binod Mishra of the RJD and Biplaw Kumar Chowdhary of the JSP. This constituency has long been dominated by veteran Abdul Bari Siddiqui, who won seven consecutive times before stepping down after his victory in 2015. The seat then went to Mishri Lal Yadav of the VIP in 2020, an RJD veteran who switched to the NDA, by a slim margin of just over 3,000 votes.
But here's where it gets controversial: Will Maithili Thakur, with her musical background and BJP support, be able to break through in this RJD-dominated territory?
Lakhisarai: The Battle for Jan Suraaj
Lakhisarai sees a fight between Vijay Kumar Sinha, the BJP candidate, and Suraj Kumar of the JSP. This constituency has been a BJP stronghold for the past three Assembly polls (2010, 2015, and 2020) due to caste dynamics, particularly the influence of Bhumihar and other upper-caste voters. Sinha, a Bhumihar leader and a former RSS worker, became the BJP's first-ever Speaker in Bihar after the party's alliance with the JD(U) in 2020.
And this is the part most people miss: Will Sinha's experience and caste influence be enough to secure another victory for the BJP, or will Suraj Kumar bring a new wave of change to Lakhisarai?
Arrah: A Seat of Power Shifts
Arrah has been a battleground between the BJP and the RJD, with the seat switching hands in every Assembly election since 2010. In 2010 and 2020, Amrendra Pratap Singh of the BJP emerged victorious, while Quyamuddin Ansari of the CPI (ML) was the runner-up. However, in the 2015 by-election, Mohammad Nawaz Alam of the RJD secured the win.
Now, Sanjay Singh "Tiger" of the BJP faces off against Vijay Kumar Gupta of the JSP and Quyamuddin Ansari. Will the BJP retain its hold on Arrah, or will the RJD reclaim its electoral jinx?
As the vote counting begins, the fate of these constituencies hangs in the balance. Stay tuned for the latest updates and join the discussion! Who do you think will emerge victorious in these closely contested battles? Share your thoughts in the comments!
