There are two ways you can access your TalkTalk emails, via webmail which is located atapps.talktalk.co.uk or via a client/app on your smart device such as a phone or tablet and your computer. You'll need your email address and password to access webmail. If setting up a client/app, you'll also need the following settings.
Before changing your settings, we recommend that you back up your email data files on your device. For more information on how to do this check with your software/app provider's instructions. Our recommendation is to use IMAP rather than POP3 settings, as this will ensure a copy of your emails is retained on our Mail server, as well as on your local device.

Wehave provided the settings you'll need inemail settings.
Remember that you can always access your messagesusingwebmail.
If you use the “Mail” application on iOS (iPhone/iPad) and have issues retrieving your emails, you need to check that you’re not using an MD5 password encryption in your settings. The MD5 password encryption has been superseded and we no longer support it.

- Open yourSettingsapp
- SelectAccounts & Passwords
- Select your TalkTalk Mail account in the list of accounts
- Select your TalkTalk email address
- SelectAdvanced
- SelectAuthentication
- Make surePasswordis selected (do not use “MD5 Challenge-Response”, “NTLM” or “HTTP MD5 Digest”)
If you switch from “MD5” to “Password”, please make sure you use SSL and Server Port 993 for IMAP (or 995 for POP) to maintain the maximum level of security
- SelectAdvancedin thetop left cornerof the screen
- SelectAccountin the top left corner of the screen
- SelectDonein the top right corner of the screen
If you use the Outlook application and have issues retrieving your emails, you need to check that you’re not using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) in your settings. SPA has been superseded and we no longer support it.
To make sure you’re not using SPA, follow these steps:
- In Outlook, access your account settings by going into the File menu and selectingAccount Settings
- Select your TalkTalk Mail account and click onChange
- Make sure thatRequire logon using Secure Password Authentication(SPA) checkbox is not ticked
- Click Next and FinishIf you deactivate “Secure Password Authentication”, please make sure you use SSL/TLS to encrypt your connection and port number 993 for IMAP (or 995 for POP) to maintain the maximum level of security (you can find those settings in More Settings=> Advanced).
If you use the “Thunderbird” application and have issues retrieving your emails, you need to check that you’re not using an “Encrypted password” in your settings. Using “Encrypted password” has been superseded and we no longer support it.
To make sure you’re not using “Encrypted password”, follow these steps:
- In Thunderbird, go to your TalkTalk Mail account and click onViews settings for this account
- SelectServer Settings, in the list on the left
