Google Hustle Academy: Empowering African SMEs with Digital Skills (2025)

Ready to catapult your African small business into the digital age? Google, in partnership with the AfCFTA, is offering a game-changing opportunity you won't want to miss! The Google Hustle Academy AfCFTA Digital Inclusion and Entrepreneurship Programme (ADIEP) is now accepting applications, and it's completely free! This initiative aims to empower 7,500 SMEs across Africa, equipping them with the essential digital and business skills needed to thrive in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape.

This training is designed to be accessible to everyone, with sessions available in English, French, Arabic, and Portuguese. The program is structured around three core modules, each meticulously crafted to fuel the growth of your African small business. Let's dive in:

Core Training Modules:

  • Cross-Border Digital Trade: This module, co-created with the AfCFTA Secretariat, is your key to unlocking new markets! You'll learn how to adapt your products to meet regional needs, master cross-border payments, and navigate the complexities of shipping. Think of it as your roadmap to expanding your business across the continent.
  • Cloud for Small Businesses: Ever wondered how to boost efficiency and cut costs? This module teaches you how to leverage cloud tools, including Google Workspace and Google Cloud, to streamline your operations and foster better collaboration. It's like having a digital assistant that never sleeps!
  • AI for Productivity: The future is here, and it's powered by AI! This module introduces you to AI tools like Google Gemini, helping you automate workflows, create compelling marketing content, and gain valuable customer insights.

Eligibility: Is Your Business Ready?

To be eligible, your SME needs to have been operating for at least six months. You must also be based in one of the selected AfCFTA member states, including Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon, Senegal, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Rwanda, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Namibia, Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The program kicks off in November 2025 and will run in **25 cohorts through June 2026. This means you have ample opportunity to join and benefit from the training.**

What's in it for you?

  • Unlock cross-border digital trade opportunities within the AfCFTA framework.
  • Gain practical skills in AI and cloud technology to supercharge your business growth.
  • Connect and collaborate with a vibrant community of entrepreneurs from across the continent.
  • Access actionable strategies to strengthen and scale your business for long-term success.

But here's where it gets controversial... some might argue that the program's focus on digital skills alone isn't enough. What about access to funding or addressing infrastructure challenges?

And this is the part most people miss... the real value lies in the networking opportunities and the chance to learn from other entrepreneurs facing similar challenges.
